MIGUEL
ANGEL RODRIGUEZ E.
PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF COSTA RICA
San
José, Costa Rica
May 29, 2001
Mr. David Rodríguez, Coordinator
Cuban Exiles Union in Peru
Dear
Mr. Rodríguez:
The
Government of Costa Rica is highly
grateful for the solidarity shown by you
in face of the insults heaved against my
country by Comandante Fidel Castro.
The
decission I made in Geneve last month
follows my firm belief that respect for
the human dignity values and promoting
the compliance of the international
agreements protecting the human rights,
are more important than the dogma of the
defense of national sovereignities.
The
massive violation of the fundamental
rights of an entire population is not a
domestic matter, it is a matter which
must interest all humans as a whole in
dedication to constructing a more just
and solidary world.
Please
receive my sincere expression of
consideration and esteem.
Miguel
Angel Rodríguez Echevarría
President of the Republic of Costa Rica
