Pravda, Moscow, Russia, July 21, 2002
Cuban President Fidel Castro has sent a
message of solidarity to his beleaguered
Iraqi counterpart, Saddam Hussein.
The message, which was sent on Saturday,
expressed solidarity for Iraq in the current
climate of external pressure and threats,
according to the Iraqi news agency, INA.
President Fidel Castro expresses “the
solidarity of Cuba in relation to the
external threats and its total support for
the end of the embargo imposed on Iraq by
the Security Council of the UNO since 1990”.
The message was delivered to the Iraqi
President by a member of the Cuban National
Assembly who is currently on a visit to
Baghdad.
President George Bush has recently promised
to use "all means” at his disposal to remove
Saddam Hussein from power, because of his
alleged involvement in the fabrication of
weapons of mass destruction.
