Political prisoners denounce treatment at
Combinado del Este prison
HAVANA,

– Three political prisoners incarcerated at
the Combinado del Este prison have denounced
what they call inhuman treatment of
prisoners.
Camilo Perez Villanueva, Francisco Chaviano
Gonzalez and Luis Campos Corrales smuggled
out a note that said Perez was denied
medical treatment Dec. 13 for an ulcer from
which he suffers. The note said the medic on
duty refused aid because he thought Perez
was faking the pain.
The note also said that three common
prisoners who suffer from cancer, Angel
Garcia Rivero, Raul Suarez Oliva and
Francisco Gomez Martinez, have been refused
treatment outside the prison as is common
for serious cases.
The trio also requested that the death
sentence of Jorge Luis Rodriguez Mir, who
has lost both hands and suffers from a
nervous condition, be commuted. They were
Rodriguez Mir was the subject of daily
psychological pressure.
The note said that on Dec. 20 there was no
Mercurochrome available for minor cuts.
