BROTHERS
TO THE RESCUE FILES A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE
TYRANNY OF FIDEL CASTRO
Translated
by Pedro Sánchez
Los Angeles,
California – In declarations to a weekly
newspaper, 20 de Mayo, and its director Abel
Perez, via telephone from Miami, Florida,
the past Friday 19 of October, Jose Basulto,
President of “Hermanos al Rescate,” also
known as Brothers to the Rescue, a no
lucrative organization, founded by the
private sector, the majority of them pilots,
to lend aid to Cuban “rafters,” fleeing
from the tyranny of Castro, made the
following statement:
For over one
year, from the times of Elian Gonzalez, I
contacted JUDICIAL WATCH and asked for their
help, among other things, to try to resolve
the case of Brothers to the Rescue. We had
to consider all the implications related to
that situation, not only on Cuba’s
participation, but also the roll of United
States as well.
”Well,
around three months ago, I contacted Larry
Klayman, chairman of JUDICIAL WATCH, an
organization dedicated to fight
administrative corruption, and take to the
proper authorities those who abuse their
positions and duties, and carry abuses
against humble people with no financial
resources. Mr. Klayman and I carried a
conversation looking for the possibility to
file a legal complaint with the courts in
Belgium, considering that the laws of that
country would make it possible to judge
Fidel Castro. Mr. Klayman found our idea to
be a sensible one and we started working on
the project, preparing the necessary
documents.
”Finally,
the past 4th of October, during a flash trip
to Belgium, as we were there for less that
one day, we filed with the proper
authorities of that country a petition for
criminal indictment against Fidel Castro
Ruz, Raul Castro Ruz, General Ulises Rosales
del Toro and General Arnaldo Tamayo Mendez,
because of the actions they have taken
against the people of Cuba, or, crimes
against humanity, those were the charges.
”Of course,
we not only had the testimony of Brothers to
the Rescue, but also of other people who
suffered abuses, among them Mr. Eugenio Sosa
Chabau, 85 years old, which was tortured in
Cuba, including the application of
electroshocks to his testicles and head in
Mazorra Hospital. It was not necessary for
Mr. Sosa Chabau to be present as a witness,
considering his age and his well established
reputation as former editor for La Marina
Newspaper in Havana.
In attendance
was Dr. Marcelino E. Feal, a medical doctor,
who lost the vision of one eye as the
consequence of a beating while he was a
prisoner in Cuba. Also present was a
psychiatrist, Dr. Rigoberto Rodriguez, who
brought with him the school material that is
actually being used in Cuba. Textbooks used
by children in primary school, with the
figures of Che Guevara and Fidel Castro.
Those books are used as indoctrination tools
by the regime.
Those charges
were filed before the Belgium courts in
Brussels. The judge in charge of opening the
case, will proceed to analyze all the
evidence on file. The complete text of the
petition for criminal indictment is in
French and could be obtained from the
Internet, if you visit the websites for
JUDICIAL WATCH or CUBAINFOLINKS.
”Everything
when well,” Basulto added. “I understand
that on that same day Fidel Castro started
running and signed a series of treaties in
which he promised not to get involved in
terrorist activities. I think we just put
him to run,” emphasized Basulto.
”In
conclusion,” Basulto went to say, “we
are satisfied of the results from our trip
to Brussels, where we were able to file a
complaint in the courts of Belgium,
complaint that will put Castro and its
regime in a difficult situation, as they
will not be able to travel to Europe and it
will make it very difficult for them to
reach any kind of treaty with the European
countries, if they are ever found guilty of
murder and terrorism. It is very important
to state that the Office of International
Aviation (ICAO) was also part of these
accusations.
NOTE:
Brothers to the Rescue was registered as a
no lucrative organization on May 12, 1991,
in the State of Florida, United States of
America. For more that eight years their
members have been patrolling the Florida
Straight, in aid to those Cubans, which in
homemade rafts are fleeing from the
communist tyranny of Fidel Castro, which
enslaves the people of Cuba for the last 42
years.
