Labeled a political prisoner he is subjected to four years of abuse and torture. After being mysteriously released, his continued efforts to escape a life of oppression lead him and a group of friends to a second escape. Armed with heroic passion they leave the island on a raft. Their goal to reach the United States. Instead they find terror at sea and their quest of human rights and freedom becomes a journey of survival. (LIBERTAD is based on historical facts & truths and interviews with political prisoners & rafters) “An audience of over 3,000, winced and wept as they watched “LIBERTAD” a      film about a young Cuban artist turned political prisoner who escapes the island on a raft”…

Martin Lesser, M.D.

“A riveting performance by newcomber Oscar Torres” Willie Blanco Schnossercam Publications “The story is so stupendous that at various moments the audience broke out in spontaneous applause”

_____________________

In this film, the screen play by Norton Rodriguez moved me and gave me a realistic look at so many Cubans that are still in prison looking and hoping for freedom. So many lives have been lost, but the human spirit will survive. The direction by Rodriguez in this dramatic story, forces us to feel and, like a documentary, to understand the characters; their life, their dreams and their search for freedom. The excellent performance by Oscar Torres, portraying a painter looking for self expression, tortured and humiliated. Oscar’s performace is from the inside. He lets us see the pain the character’s soul. All the performance in “Libertad” are a revelation. To all on this special project CONGRATULATIONS!!!!. Oscar your terrific performance will live in my memory as a treasure. Your talent shines with all the colors of humanity.
Luis Vitar, film critic on “Libertad”
